Madonna Turns 55: 10 Former Flames We Won't ForgetOn August 16, 2013 Madonna celebrates her 55th birthday. Over the years she has dominated the art of the shock - undergoing countless changes in both her style and personal aesthetic. Her legendary music career aside, Madge has also been known to shed her romantic relationships with the seasons as well. Here's an overview of some of the men who have rocked the Queen of Pop's wild world.

Madonna told Rolling Stone in 2009 of her infatuation with little M.J. when she was growing up. "I was madly in love with him, totally smitten…he was mind-bogglingly talented. The songs he sang were not childlike at all," she said. The two met for the first time in the early 80s, then put the press on major alert after a few hangouts they had shortly after.
Madonna's whirlwind romance with the acclaimed screen star was a tabloid staple through the latter half of the '80s. They first crossed paths in 1985 and wed that same year. By 1987, they split before breaking it off for good with a divorce in 1989. The story's got a happy ending in some respect, however - Madge and Penn have remained close friends. Word on the street is that the sparks between them have never left. Actress Debi Mazar, Madonna's longtime confidante recently slipped to Bravo's Andy Cohen that Madonna sees Penn as the only "one true love" of her life. Madonna fans who spotted Penn in the front row of a live performance last October swore that he seemed smitten. Throughout the show, he was heard cheering "She's so hot!"
Although the siren is known for her impressive ability to attract men far younger than her, she's also dated men on the opposite end of the age range—most notably, legendary actor and ladies' man Warren Beatty, who is 21 years her senior, and with whom she costarred in 1990's "Dick Tracy." The pair began their affair directly after Madonna's marriage to Sean Penn imploded, and colorful reports of Penn's rage and jealousy over the matter abound. Beatty famously appeared in Madonna's 1991 documentary "Truth or Dare," where he delivered the memorable dig at his then-paramour: "She doesn't want to live off-camera."
Ward, an international supermodel, appeared in Madonna's racy music videos for "Cherish" and "Justify" in 1990. From there they couldn't take their hands off each other. Ward was one of the many examples of photogenic man candy to appear in Madge's controversial 1992 bookSEX. They engaged in a quick affair 'til the start of '91, when she called it quits to start fresh with rapper Vanilla Ice
Madge took a plunge into hip-hop for her romantic stint with Vanilla Ice in 1990. The wacky one-hit-wonder behind "Ice, Ice Baby" was also featured in her jaw-dropping coffee table book SEX. Turns out the book was what blew their eight-month fling to smithereens. "…I broke up with her after she printed that book because I was hurt to be an unwitting part of this slutty package," he told News of the World, a UK tabloid in 2011. "It was disgusting and cheap. We were in a relationship yet it looked like she was screwing all these other people."
In the music world, Madonna has always been used to turning heads - and Dennis Rodman played a similar role within the sports world during the '90s. The two oddballs became an item and downright spectacle in 1994. Their relationship is known not only for its sheer weirdness but for rumors that Madonna begged the basketball star to father her child
This Cuban actor and fitness expert entered Madonna's life after she hired him as her personal trainer in 1994. Two years later they welcomed a daughter, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, in 1996. The parents parted ways one year later. It seems that Leon has found love in a glamorous place all over again - he got hitched to high-fashion designer Bettina Holt last month
Madonna's involvement with director Guy Ritchie was the longest of her many love sagas. They wed in December 2000 after bringing a son, Rocco, into the world earlier that year. Though they officially broke things off in 2008, it appears they have remained civil. Madge and Ritchie, who both practice Kabbalah, were seen celebrating together at a pre-party for Rocco's bar mitzvah ceremony last month
Without a doubt, one of Madge's most controversial alliances came in 2008, when rumors began swirling of an affair with MLB hotshot Alex Rodriguez. Both the singer and the star New York Yankee (17 years her junior) were teetering on the verge of divorce with their respective spouses (in Madonna's case, second husband Guy Richie); rumors of late-night secret visits between the two no doubt didn't help matters much. Although Madonna issued a statement saying she was "not romantically involved in any way" with A-Rod, the infielder's wife claimed an "affair of the heart" took place between the pair and was the last nail in the Rodriguez marriage coffin. They settled their divorce in September 2008, whereas Madonna officially announced her split with Richie one month later
The superstar began her cougar prowl after starting a relationship with Jesus Luz, a Brazilian model 28 years her junior. They first crossed paths at a photoshoot for W Magazine in 2008. For a year, they were immersed in a romance that photographers couldn't seem to get enough of - but by 2010, it was closing time
